                                    For God and Country

Thank you for visiting our new Internet Site for American Legion Post 266 located in sunny Sarasota, Florida.   Check back often as updates can happen daily.  We are making an effort to include new features as soon as possible.

Take a look around and relax for a while.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a safe and Happy New Year.  Which brings me to the next item.  The new key cards can now be purchased at the Canteen.  The old cards will no longer work after December 31.  You must have a 2012 membership card to purchase one.  While we're on the topic of membership, we are still not at 100%, so if you haven't paid your dues yet, please do so.

I am sorry to say we lost our Past Commander of the S.A.L., Mike Pillot.  He will be sadly missed by all.

I would really like to see more participation at our monthly meetings which are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00PM.  If you can, please attend and share your input and ideas.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming events and come out and enjoy them.  We are not getting a good turnout for our Friday Band Nights.  We do this to entertain our members and give you a place to come out and enjoy the evening.  So if you are able, please come put and participate so we can continue to provide such entertainment.

In closing, once again, I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.

   For God and Country,

                                                                   Ron Neipert Jr., Commander

   Happy Holidays to All!

Our events in November and December were a great success.  The Early Bird Dinner held in November was as good as last year, great to see the nice turnout of members.

We will still be doing our Friday Night Dinners, so come out and support the members who volunteer their time to cook us a great meal.  Please come out and join us on Friday for dinner and music.

Our Children's Christmas Party was also a great success.  Great seeing all those happy faces sitting on Santa's knee.  Thank you Santa for stopping by to see us with your busy schedule.  Keep youe eyes open for our upcoming events in January and February.  February will be the Clam Bake with music by the Nay Burz Band.  This event is always a great time, so don't miss it.

The end of the year is here, so if you haven't paid those dues yet, please do so.  The new key cards are out, so stop in and pick up your new card for 2012.

In closing, I want to say Thank You to all the Volunteers this year, and to everyone who came out and supported our events.  It's always good to see you.

Remember you can follow our events on our website at www.ampost266.net.

We will not be having an Auxiliary meeting in January.  Our next Auxiliary Meeting will be February 6th at 6:ooPM.  Hope to see you there.

   For God and Country,

                                                                                    Rhonda Stoothoff, President

   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope that all of you enjoyed time with family and friends over the holidays, and a prayer going to those we lost.

We wrapped up our 2011 events with the Turkey Shoot.  There was a nice turnout by the members and a beautiful day was enjoyed by all.  I do have to say though, functions like the Turkey Shoot and other events put together by us, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Legion are done for the members, family and friends to enjoy and of course the hope of gaining new members to our beautiful Post.  They take a lot of effort to put together and it would be nice to see GREATER participation.  I thank you all, who made the time to attend.

January brings us cooler if not downright cold weather.  That to the SONS means Campfire Night.  Our first of the season will be held on January 28th.  The first campfire night will be extra special, as we pay tribute to our Past Commander, Mike Pillot.

We will be holding a raffle as well as a 50/50 drawing that evening with the proceeds benefiting the Pillot family.  Additional details for this evening will be posted in the Canteen - Stop in for updates.  As always, all acoustical musicians are welcome and food will be served.  Let's make this a night to remember!

May you all enjoy a safe and happy holiday season with your family and friends.

   For God and Country,

                                                                                   Alan King, S.A.L. Commander

Webb 'Coach' Halbert just became the first and only member to donate as a website booster.
